Giraffe Room
(6 Weeks - 1 year)
In the Giraffe Room, infants are cared for in a warm and nurturing environment where they are fed, rocked, read and sung to, and comforted throughout the day. Our teachers support early development by encouraging skills such as rolling, crawling, climbing, and walking. We cherish every smile and laugh, and provide opportunities for age-appropriate art, sensory activities, and outdoor walks when weather permits.
Elephant Room
(1 year - 2 years)
In the Elephant Room, every day is filled with adventure, creativity, and discovery! From circle time and story sessions to art, sensory play, and dancing, our teachers keep little learners engaged and excited. We also build communication skills by practicing simple sign language and encouraging age-appropriate sentences. Watching their personalities bloom more and more each day is the best part!
Alligator Room
(2 years - 3 years)
The Alligator Room is a busy, energetic space where children learn through play all day long. From art and sensory activities to music time, there’s always something exciting happening. Throughout their daily routines, children are building important social-emotional skills while also strengthening their bodies through active gross motor play.
Tiger Room
(Early Pre-k 3 years - 4 years)
The Tiger Room offers a more structured environment designed to help prepare children for preschool. We encourage learning through exploration with a play-based approach that keeps learning fun and meaningful. Children build important skills such as sharing, taking turns, and conflict resolution, while also developing early preschool readiness skills. Along the way, they are introduced to letters, numbers, and shapes—all while enjoying being kids and growing in confidence.
Monkey Room
(Pre-Kindergarten 4 years - 5 years)
The Monkey Room is focused on school readiness and helping children grow into confident, capable learners. Our teachers support the development of self-help skills, independence, and meaningful friendships. We aim to build strong self-esteem, so children feel ready and excited for school. Children continue practicing sharing, conflict resolution, and kindergarten readiness skills, while expanding their knowledge of colors, numbers, and letters. Each week includes a fun theme to spark curiosity and learning. This room also emphasizes child-led conversations and active listening, giving children a strong voice in their learning.
Lion Room
(Before & After School, Summer Care, 5 years - 11 years)
We offer before and after school care, no school day care, and a summer program for K–5th grade. During the school year, children enjoy center time and free play after school, giving them a chance to relax, socialize, and unwind. They are also provided time to complete homework if desired. In the summer, our school-age program loves getting out into the community to explore Garretson, along with taking part in fun and educational field trips and outings.
When Needed: Drop-In Care
Blue Dragon Academy offers Drop -In Care when availability allows.
To check on availability, call a minimum of 24 hours in advance of needing care.
Drop-In Rates are: $65 for the day
If spot reserved for Drop-In, payment is due at time of arrival.
Cancellation Fee of $25 if you don't use service and spot held for the day.
CACFP FOOD PROGRAM
Blue Dragon Academy is part of the CACFP Program. Our children are served nutritious meals every day. We offer breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack to children enrolled at BDA.

FrogStreet
This curriculum offers children: -STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) -Literacy -Problem Solving -Conscious discipline -Hands on learning activities.
There is so much room for our teachers to expand and use this curriculum to fit the child's interests and needs!
Montessori
Montessori Curriculum encourages children to learn through hands-on activities, independence, exploration, and real-life experiences at their own pace.
SAFE
The SAFE Curriculum from Sanford CHILD Services uses age-appropriate activities to teach children about personal safety, expressing their feelings, making safe choices, and identifying trusted adults.
Learning Without Tears
We use LWOT for our 3-5 year old age groups.
Students strengthen essential fine and gross motor skills through hands-on materials, learn through purposeful play, and explore language through connected text.
Scholastic
Our 3-4 year-olds enjoy the Clifford weekly readers. Clifford brings joy to learning in preschool with fun, knowledge-building texts to seasonal science, social studies, and social development themes. We support and delight beginning readers!
Our 4-5 year-olds enjoy reading the Lets Find Out weekly readers. Lets Find Out brings fun nonfiction seasonal science and social studies themes. Every issue is built on a firm foundation of skills that reinforces curriculum. Throughout the year students develop cross-curricular knowledge as well as foundational reading and writing skills.
South Dakota ELG
Blue Dragon Academy uses the South Dakota Early Learning Guidelines as a shared framework to support children's growth for all ages. We utilize these standards ensure our program provides age-appropriate, play-based learning that prepares young children for future school success.
